Church services

We gather at 10am every Sunday morning. Our service is also streamed live via Facebook for those who are unwell and unable to make it physically to the service. Our services include worship and word, with times of open celebration and prayer. Come check us out sometime, we are known to be a warm welcoming church.

Our Values

We are “Loved”
“I have come in order that you might have life ‒ life in all its fullness.”

John 10:10

Expectant
We are bold and courageous. We will expect great things from God, and we will attempt great things for God.

Outward focused
We believe lost people matter to God, and therefore, they matter to the church. This will be reflected in relational evangelism and evangelism as a process.

Listening
We value listening to God and waiting upon His Spirit so that we are guided and empowered by Him -being open to change and willing to try new things in order to advance Christ’s Kingdom. We value listening to each other and speaking truthfully and honestly, in love.

Vulnerable
We encourage people to be open and genuine in their journey with Christ, trusting each other through their ups and downs as we explore the Bible and a life of faith together. We are Bible-based and passionate, committed to being honest and real with each other, prayerful, confessional and humble. We are empathetic to the damage of sin and enthusiastic to the triumph of Grace.

Diverse
We are a diverse community, we are all God’s created people, standing on equal ground before Him, believing that we are strengthened and encouraged through our diversity. We cherish our spiritual gifts, wealth and abilities, and challenge each other to grow both in our willingness to serve and in our capacity to accomplish the work of ministry and mission together.

History

We began as a church plant from Glenfield Baptist and Long Bay Baptist with some support from Murrays Bay Baptist. Services began in 1991. God has blessed us over the years through the ministry of Eddie and Michelle Houghton, Kerry and Annie Hilton 1993-1999, Graham and Julie Read 2000-2010, Ryan and Sophie Bond 2011-2013, and Angus and Wendy Budge 2014-2019. Odele and Myk Habets joined us in November 2020 along with their two teenagers, Sydney and Liam.
Biblical teaching and sound theology are foundational for who we are. Our Christian worldview impacts how we live, the decisions we make and how we operate as a church family, as we seek to connect community (both church community and our associated local communities) with God and each other.
We are a church from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Geographically our congregation is spread in location not only including Albany but also from Whangaparaoa, Dairy Flat, East Coast Bays to Northcote.
Our church family is ethnically diverse; we are from New Zealand, China, Korea, Indonesia, South Africa, Europe, the UK and other parts of the world. Our ages range from 0 to 91.
We are a community of believers who embrace each other’s giftings. We encourage members of our congregation gifted with preaching to teach on Sundays, an open space for prayer, words of wisdom or song and testimonies.
One of our strengths is celebrating together significant events in people’s lives and answers to prayer. We endeavour to connect with each other outside of Sunday church services through homegroups and events such as – Guess Who’s coming to dinner – Midwinter Christmas parties – Badminton on Sundays, which is an outreach opportunity – men’s breakfasts – women’s breakfasts – women’s retreat – church picnics in the summer and sporting events.
